Formulation Changes to MARKEM Inks

January 10, 2008

Dear valued MARKEM customer,

This letter is to inform you of a change in the white pigment used in some of the MARKEM pharmaceutical ink series. This change was a direct result of MARKEM no longer able to obtain the original version of the pigment. Our records indicate that your company has purchased at least one of the affected inks in the past two years and although we are confident that this will not impact your production in any way, we wanted to make sure you were informed of this change.

The formulations of the following ink series and colors are being updated with the ‘new’ pigment:

MARKEM has been advised by our supplier that they changed the name of the pigment to reflect an improvement in their process for manufacturing the pigment. MARKEM has also been advised that there are no differences or functional changes of the pigment due to this process improvement. The new pigment is a direct 1:1 replacement and will not change the MSDS or any of the documentation associated with the pigment or any of the inks this pigment is used in.

The new white pigment conforms with the United States Pharmacopoeia (USP), European Pharmacopoeia (EuP), Japanese Pharmacopoeia (JP), and British Pharmacopoeia (BP). In addition, the new white pigment conforms to Directive 95/94/EC (E171) and FDA regulations 21CFR73.575, 73.1575, and 73.2575, and is Kosher and HACCP certified.

Again, the new pigment meets all of the same specifications and regulations as the prior pigment. Our inks will continue to meet all specifications of existing inks. For more information, please refer to the Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) statement on our web page at www.markem.com.

The change to the reformulated inks will take place on February 4, 2008. Any inks manufactured on or after the date listed will be made with the new white pigment.

MSDSs will still be provided with every shipment. You may also obtain an MSDS from the Markem website at www.markem.com/msds/. If you have additional questions, please contact your local business center technical support desk. We thank you for your business and will continue to set the standard for providing the most reliable and innovative product identification solutions in every corner of the world.

Sincerely,
MARKEM Corporation
